"Ruthven
Park Mansion" by Hugh Martin
While
the eighteenth century Greek Revival Style mansion and its contents
dominate the landscape and capture the imagination of many visitors,
the park's natural treasures are also priceless to future generations.
The
property includes 600 acres of farmlands and 885 acres of forests,
ravines & wetlands. This includes part of the North Cayuga
Slough Forest, which is:
- a
Class 1 Wetland
- an
Area of Natural & Scientific Interest (ANSI)
- an
Environmentally Sensitive Area
- and
an Alternate Carolinian Canada Site
For
more information on the Ruthven Park Historical Site, visit
their website. Depending on the time of year, they offer
guided tours, heritage day, Christmas tea/tours and other special
events.
