Kathy Renwald
"Beer and Bulldozers:
The Fuel for the Perfect Garden"

This illustrated talk takes a journey over 15 years, from the time Kathy and her husband began renovations on a historic home and tackled an impossible hillside garden. Kathy will share her experiences and the many lessons to be learned about drought, design, erosion and putting the right plant in the right place.

Kathy is the creator of Gardener’s Journal television show, author of the best selling books Annuals and Perennials for Ontario and Tree and Shrub Gardening for Ontario, and regular columnist for the Toronto Star and Hamilton Spectator.

Ken Parker
"Gardening with Native Plants:
A Joint Venture with Nature"

The slide presentation will discuss the benefits of using native plants in the landscape and cover a host of plants including trees, shrubs and other perennials that are suitable for a variety of sites and conditions.

Ken Parker and his wife Linda are co-owners of Sweet Grass Gardens, Six Nations of the Grand River. Ken is a writer, consultant and speaker and has appeared on many television shows including The Garden Gamble on the W-Network, and provides gardening tips on the weather channel.

Jack Kent
"Daylilies, Hostas and Peonies:
A Long Way from the Ditches and Mountains"

An enlightening presentation that will address the wide range of spectacular plants that are now available in each group of the above plants, and how they can be best used in both shade and sun gardens.

Jack is a nursery operator, well-known speaker, and principal of The Potting Shed in Cayuga.

Helen Hill
"Portable Gardens: A Demonstration
of Perennial Container Planting."

This session will demonstrate how to plant a “Perennial Container” and will provide the general principles of successful container gardening and some ideas as to what type of plant material works well.

Helen and her husband are owners of Flowerhill Farm. They offer over 750 varieties of perennial flowering plants, ornamental grasses and perennial herbs.


Seating is limited and reservations are required. To register call Ruthven Park at 905-772-0560. Tickets: $30.00 for members of the Lower Grand River Land Trust Inc. $40.00 for non-members. Light lunch and refreshments provided. Books and plants will be available for sale, handouts provided and more!
