MEMBERSHIP UPDATE
by Gail Collins, Chair Membership Committee

In considering what to write for this column the first answer came easily; namely, a warm and grateful 'thank you' to those of you who have chosen to be a member of the Land Trust/Ruthven Park. Whether you are a renewal or a new member it is important for you to know that your support is greatly valued.

Over the past several months our CAO, our Committees, and Board of Directors have been busily preparing and approving plans that will ensure continued preservation of the Land Trust properties.

The Lower Grand River Land Trust is fortunate to have ownership of several acres which includes extensive forests, Class 1 wetlands, agricultural lands, Carolinian forests, and a bird migration flyway, all within the 1500 acre Ruthven Park National Historic Site.

Membership support, in these early days, will allow you to follow our progress and keep up-to-date with the many exciting activities planned, and if you wish, you can share this excitement by participating as a volunteer on one of the Land Trust committees.

As a member, some new benefits are being offered that we believe will be appreciated. In addition to receiving our newsletter, Riversong, four times per year, members will also be entitled to the following:

  • free admission to the Ruthven mansion
  • 30% off special events or programs/workshops

Membership not only offers these benefits, but also the enjoyment of visiting Ruthven Park and walking its grounds and nature trails. In addition, by being a member of The Lower Grand River Land Trust you have the opportunity to participate in tree plantings, bird migration activities, butterfly meadow nurturing, trail maintenance, plus many other projects. However, the most important benefit of all is in knowing that you are helping to preserve history for future generations to enjoy, and that you are helping to care and preserve our sensitive environment.

Membership runs from January to December and the benefits listed above are available only to the person or family name shown on the card.

Membership fees are as follows:

  • Individual membership $24.00
  • Family membership $30.00
  • Student membership $15.00

As an incentive to members, if you sign up two new members, you, as well as the new members, will be our guests at Afternoon Tea at Ruthven. Again, thank you to all who continue to support our effort and commitment to ensure our future not only historically but also environmentally.
